WWE® Superstars The New Day®
Appearing: Saturday ONLY
WWE® Superstar Kofi Kingston®
The New Day’s Kofi Kingston is powered by positivity, and he’s used it to catapult himself to new heights, including the WWE Championship.
Since bursting on the WWE scene in 2007, Kingston has established himself as one of WWE’s premier high-flyers. That, paired with his upbeat attitude, made him a perennial favorite of the WWE Universe as he racked up Intercontinental, United States and Tag Team Championships. Kingston also cemented his place in WWE history with a series of daredevil moments where he saved himself from elimination in several Royal Rumble Matches.
When he joined forces with Big E and Xavier Woods to form The New Day, though, no one could have guessed that the trio of unicorn horn-wearing, Booty-O-chomping Superstars would achieve the feats that they have in WWE. In fact, the WWE Universe despised them at first, but soon grew to love them.
As the veteran member of the team, Kingston provides his wealth of knowledge to his younger compadres, and it has paid off. Not only has The New Day become one of the most popular factions in WWE history, but ya boys have held multiple Tag Team Championships between their stints on Raw and SmackDown LIVE, including the longest reign in WWE history at an astonishing 483 days.
Kingston’s 11 years of hard work and dedication finally brought him to the dance at WrestleMania 35 where he challenged Daniel Bryan for the WWE Title. With the entire WWE Universe behind him, as well as his New Day brothers and the SmackDown locker room, Kofi beat Bryan to claim WWE’s ultimate prize. It just goes to show what the Power of Positivity can accomplish.
WWE® Superstar Big E®
The New Day love to have a good time. Good times come easy when you have a powerhouse like Big E on your team who is willing to wear a unicorn horn on his head.
The word “Big” almost feels like an understatement when talking about Big E, but how else do you describe a 290-pound tank of a man who can deadlift a Fiat? “Superhuman” comes to mind, as does “Herculean.” “Big,” though, leaves no question about the type of punishment he dishes out inside the ring.
Long before he was chanting “New Day Rocks,” Big E was destined to command the spotlight. He was always the strongest kid in class — an advantage he used to win state championships in high school wrestling and punish quarterbacks on the defensive line for the University of Iowa.
When Big E signed with WWE, it looked like more punishment was on the menu for his opponents. That was the case as he bulldozed his way to the NXT Championship, then debuted on Raw and captured the Intercontinental Title. But it was after he joined forces with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to form The New Day that the WWE Universe got to learn about the man behind the muscle.
Incorporating the Power of Positivity, Big E revealed his fun-loving side, heralding The New Day’s arrival with his booming voice and never hesitating to shake his hips mid-match – before crushing his opponents with a devastating splash, of course.
Though he may have a big smile on his face as he showers fans in Booty-Os before the match, when the bell rings, Big E is just as dangerous as ever. It’s part of the reason why The New Day are five-time Tag Team Champions and hold the record as the longest-reigning team in WWE history. Just because Big E likes to have fun doesn’t mean he can’t powerslam you through the ring, too.
WWE® Superstar Xavier Woods®
It’s a New Day, yes it is! And, without a doubt, Xavier Woods is a huge part of it.
A dynamic Superstar with plenty of brains — he’s currently earning his Ph.D. in educational psychology in addition to his two bachelor’s degrees in psychology and philosophy and a master’s in psychology — Woods is far more intelligent than his off-key trombone bleating may let on. He’s damn good in the ring, too, snatching multiple WWE Tag Team Championships alongside his New Day crew of Big E and Kofi Kingston.
Legit pop culture phenoms, The New Day proved their place in sports-entertainment history by setting the record for the longest Tag Team Championship reign in WWE history. They also released their own Booty-O’s cereal, hosted WrestleMania and brought some much-needed magic and wonder back to WWE.
In between earning degrees and titles, Woods has also found the time to host his own YouTube gaming channel, UpUpDownDown. No doubt, Woods and his New Day cohorts have seized their moment, and when Xavier Woods steps inside the ring, you can be sure that his opponents are about to be schooled.
